I think if [people read] this they’ll kind of know what type of person I am. I’m pretty normal. I love sports. I don’t do illegal drugs. I work. I pay my taxes. I occasionally go to church, but I pray. I’m pretty normal, like everybody else, I think. Maybe that’s what I want people to know, at 59 years old. I would never admit to anybody that I’m 59!
I guess, when I look back, my life has been pretty easy. There’s been some rough spots obviously, but it’s been pretty easy for me, compared to what a lot of people have to go through. I think a lot of it is probably because I kept to myself too. I wasn’t exposing myself out there. I think it’s easier today to expose yourself out there than it was during my time, especially in our city, considering Stonewall didn’t happen until . Like I said, we didn’t even know what gay people were.
