Linda McKitrick – Spokane in Perspective

“Spokane meets all my needs.”

[I came to Spokane because of Brenda, my partner at that time.] I had met her through a friend of mine. I knew Lucky from the army. One time [Lucky] and Brenda were together. I came up to visit Lucky, thinking we were going to get back together. Well, it didn’t turn up that way. Brenda and I got together. So, when I got out of the army, I came to live here, in 1982. We only lasted about a year, a little over a year. I’d say a year and a half.

When I came to visit, though, before moving up here, I really liked it here. I didn’t want to go back to Akron, Ohio. I wanted to live in a place where there are four seasons. I like Spokane. Spokane meets all my needs. If I want to go to a concert, I can go to a concert. If I want to go to a play, I can go to the Civic Theatre. It meets all my needs. If want to a sporting event, because I follow the Spokane Chiefs, I can go to a hockey game. And we’ve got beautiful lakes here. It meets my needs. If I want more I can go over to Seattle.
