So many people died of AIDS for a while there. It was just one and another, and another, and . . . Men that I knew and just really liked. [One of the founders of PFLAG] had two gay sons: beautiful, handsome gay sons. They both have died of AIDS. That’s when AIDS was . . . I just . . . I’m over all the crying, but I just cried, because so many of the friends that I met [in PFLAG], their sons would die with AIDS. And [they] had not only one, but two, in the family.
